SCA Pharma, partnering with Bausch Advanced Technologies, has compounded more than 2,500 containers of alcohol-based hand sanitizer now being distributed at no cost to first responders and front-line healthcare workers in Connecticut fighting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Hundreds of 100ml-sized containers already have been distributed to first response units located in Windsor, Simsbury, and Bloomfield. The rest of the 2,500 containers will be distributed to several COVID-19 field hospitals with the help of the state Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) and the National Guard.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently allowed for the temporary compounding of alcohol-based hand sanitizer products in response to the shortage caused by the nation’s COVID-19 public health emergency. SCA Pharma, based in Windsor, teamed with Bausch Advanced Technologies in Clinton to do what both companies do best to support the community.
“Our community’s first responders and front-line medical personnel literally are risking their lives daily to save patients and to try to contain a virus that threatens all of us,” said Milton Boyer, CEO of SCA Pharma. “SCA Pharma greatly appreciates their brave efforts, and hope these needed supplies help them continue to fight the good fight.”
